Stop traffic ticket bonuses for police managers

VERSION_ANGLAISE_02.jpg

Last November, it was revealed that Denis Coderre asked the Montreal Police Department (SPVM) to emit 717 000 traffic tickets in 2016, or more than one ticket every minute. On average, this represents one traffic ticket per licensed vehicle in Montreal.

The Coderre administration also introduced, in 2016, a bonus plan for SPVM managers based on how many traffic tickets were given out.

In a recently published letter, constitutional law expert Alain-Robert Nadeau wrote that in his opinion, traffic ticket quotas are an attack on the most fundamental constitutional principles and have no place in a society of law and order.

We ask that the Coderre administration eliminate traffic ticket bonuses. Show your support by signing this petition!
