Before the 2013 Mosaïcultures were held, access to the exterior site of the Montreal Botanical Garden was free for everyone outside of ticket office hours from dawn to dusk.
Many citizens took advantage of this offering: senior citizens, sports enthusiasts, avid bird watchers and many more.
From now on, access to the exterior site is only possible from 9 am to 6 pm and one must buy another pass to have access from 6 am to 9 am (the early-bird rate).
Since its foundation, the Botanical Garden has always promoted access to nature in the context of making popular education available to everyone.
This green space is an oasis of freshness and an exceptional site in which to relax, be physically active and in touch with nature, all in the heart of Montreal.
Elsewhere in the world, dozens of other botanical gardens are open to the public at no charge, often from dawn to dusk.
This is why I ask Espace pour la vie to come back to its traditional operating mode by opening the exterior site from morning to evening and abolishing the early-bird rate.
